Modern service hosting platform

Client

The client, a British multinational banking and financial services organisation, had limited experience of public cloud, leading edge technology and tool adoption, a stringent cyber security posture, a risk averse change culture and a global presence.

Challenge

A multitude of internet and mobile banking platforms hosted globally running on both legacy 3-tier application architecture and partial refactoring onto PCF/Mulesoft solution, the customer was looking for a modern service hosting solution which could be deployed on public cloud to support their global presence.

Limited experience of public cloud, leading edge technology and tool adoption, stringent cyber security posture, risk averse change culture, global presence.

Solution

Airwalk Reply was engaged to build a modern service hosting platform, ecosystem and tooling to support the ultimate migration of over 3000 APIs and services.

The platform was built on AWS with three global points of presence, using cloud native services as the foundation, Amazon EKS and 3rd party products (Istio, Envoy, Mulesoft, AquaSec).

Outcome

A production proof of concept was completed by Airwalk Reply for a number of live user journeys.

Airwalk Reply enabled the client’s use of innovative technology by using EKS, which meant the customer could be the front runner globally in retail banks for its usage of Kubernetes.

The end result was a fully automated solution which lowered costs, reduced operational overheads and faster speed to market, whilst also supporting iterative development.
